Contrary to popular belief, renters are not covered by the FBO/Flight School’s insurance. The FBO/Flight School’s insurance policy only protects the FBO/Flight School. If an airplane you rent for pleasure, business, or flight training is damaged, you may be held responsible for the damage up to and beyond the insurance deductible, which can be $2,500 or more.
So you need to ask yourself, “Can I afford not be insured?”
We recommend AIG Aviation, Inc. AIG Aviation, Inc. is a leading general aviation insurance underwriter. AIG Aviation, Inc. offers highly comprehensive non-owned liability and physical damage insurance coverage.
Question:
What is Liability Coverage?
Answer:
Liability Coverage provides coverage for the bodily injury and property damage for which you may be liable arising from your use of non-owned aircraft, but excluding physical damage to non-owned aircraft.
Question:
What is Physical Damage to Non-Owned Aircraft Coverage?
Answer:
Physical Damage to Non-Owned Aircraft Coverage provides coverage for physical damage to non-owned aircraft for which you may be liable. This coverage is normally available in conjunction with Liability Coverage.
Question:
How much coverage should I buy?
Answer:
For Liability Coverage, as much as available and as much as you can afford. For Physical Damage to Non-Owned Aircraft, it depends on the value of the aircraft you typically rent, and whether or not you want to be fully covered in the event of a total loss.
Question:
Is Renter’s Insurance expensive?
Answer:
No. Comprehensive coverage (Liability and Physical Damage to Non-Owned Aircraft) is affordable, with options available so you can select the coverage that best suits your needs. Either way, the cost of renter’s insurance versus the cost of paying thousands of dollars in damage is well worth it!
Aviator Air Centers Minimum Insurance Requirement:
